Description
Faith-Based and Community-Based Organizations have the right to submit offers/bids equally with other organizations for contracts for which they are eligible. Re: Building 1249 is not equipped with a fire protection sprinkler system. General: Provide a wet type sprinkler system to meet ALL Local, State and Federal requirements in building 1249 located at the Federal Prison Camp, Maxwell Air Force Base. The Government will provide drawings to be used to determine the building width, length, etc. These drawings are schematic and diagrammatic in nature only. They are not to be used for construction / erection. These drawings do not show all required bends, offsets, valves and miscellaneous fittings for a complete installation. The contractor shall show all required data as required per NFPA guidelines. The Contractor will visit the site and view existing conditions prior to submitting a bid and commencing any work. The Contractor will be responsible for verification of all existing utility locations. The Contractor will be responsible for verification of all existing domestic water line, sprinkler system, etc.. Where connecting to a utility service, Contractor will verify location, ,size, materials, fluid being handled and inverts of all existing utilities. Contractor will confirm that new pipes being routed to existing utilities can be installed conforming to all codes and as specified. The Contractor shall notify the Government of any conflicts and / or discrepancies prior to purchasing any materials or performing any work, extension of work or connection, with the exception of excavation or other work to provide access to the concealed utility. The Government will be responsible for the removal and disposal of all ceiling finish material as necessary to accommodate installation of sprinkler systems. The systems will include all piping, valves, heads, etc., as required in a ?correctional? environment, necessary to insure fully functional systems at completion of work. The Contractor will not hang or support any piping from other pipes, ducts, equipment or cables and conduit. The Contractor shall paint all above grade piping, fittings, etc.. The Contractor shall verify that the city water system shall be capable of delivering adequate water supplies for the hydraulically designed sprinkler systems. If this cannot be supplied, then additional water supplies will be necessary. The Contractor will provide up to date water pressure data per NFPA guidelines before work is started. The Contractor shall coordinate installation of sprinkler systems with all trades, as well as, coordinate the connection of the existing fire alarm system to the new sprinkler systems. Work shall include all materials, labor, supplies, travel, equipment and any associated hardware needed to complete the project as per the specifications and drawings provided by the contractor. All work shall be performed in accordance with Federal Safe Drinking Water act, the American Water Works Association (Manual M14 - ?Recommended Practice For Back-flow Prevention And Cross-Connection Control?) as well as, NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, NFPA 13, NFPA 24, NFPA 70 and NFPA 72, Standard Building Code, Standard Plumbing Code, Standard Fire Prevention Code and any other Federal, State and local guidelines as required. Design and hydraulic calculations shall be stamped by a Fire Protection Engineer with active license to practice in the State of Alabama. All required notifications, licenses, permits, site inspections, shall be the responsibility of the contractor. All employees of the contractor or any subcontractor required to enter the institution will be required to submit such security clearance paperwork as required to the institution for background checks. There will be no exceptions to this requirement. All paperwork shall be submitted at least five (5) working days in advance of entrance to the facility. Paperwork shall be submitted as a complete package and will be submitted at one time instead of a few at a time. A briefing will be conducted with all contractors, and subcontractors, to advise them of institutional security procedures. These procedures will be adhered to at all times. Contractor will be allowed to work between the hours of 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday excluding Federal Holidays. The site provides downloading instructions. All future information about this acquisition, including solicitation amendments, will also be distributed solely through this site.
