- Description
- This is Modification No. 2 to the synopsis entitled Modular Front-End Components for Data Acquisition Commensurate with Structural Loads Testing of Large, Complex Space Structures NNM05122359Q which was posted on August 31, 2005. You are notified that the following changes are made: The following questions have been received and are answered below: Question 1) Section 4 of the specification states that ?the front-ends shall include all of the necessary hardware and software to control ?the required communication interface to the existing Data Collector and Control Station software applications?. A later paragraph states that the ?functions ?shall be automated via low level commands?, which seems to imply a DLL or static library, either currently operating or in a skeletal form. Could we have more information on the specifics of this interface? Specifically, how is the communications interface structured (command and response mechanism), is there an existing set of commands that must be supported, and if so what are the commands, responses, and parameters. If the work includes modifying an existing library, what language is it written in? Question 1 Answer Communication between the embedded controller running the Data Collector program and the instrumentation hardware shall be conducted via an ethernet interface. A software interface shall be provided that enables the Data Collector to access the hardware command set for such system functions as setting filters, gains, accessing the calibration bus and accessing the millivolt value of all transducer inputs including any thermocouple reference junctions. The millivolt values are required so that all calculations can be performed externally. Examples of such an interface include DLLs, active X controls and GPIB command sets. The end user must be free to distribute this interface. Question 2) Are calibration programs required as part of this work, will we be expected to modify existing calibration programs, or are calibration functions included in the communications interface with the Control Station software? If we will need to modify existing code, what language is it written in If we will be expected to provide a calibration program, must it be windows-aware or can it be a console operation? Question 2 Answer: Calibration functionality and low level commands such as the ability to read and modify calibration coefficients are needed. We will provide the calibration program. No modification to existing calibration programs or functions is required. Question 3) Will we have access to copies of the Data Collector and Control Station software as part of our development work? Question 3 Answer: Access to the Data Collector and Control Station should not be required. Question 4) Are security clearances and secured facilities required for this work? Can foreign nationals work on this project? Can part of the work be sent overseas? Question 4 Answer: No security clearances or secured facilities are required for this work since it will not be on site; if foreign nationals work on this they must be identified as well as the country they represent; clauses included in solicitation give guidance/restrictions to foreign work and purchases of foreign items. The due date for responses is NOT extended. Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
