Description

This announcement is to notify the cancellation of Solicitation Number (Reference No.) F2C3XG5188A100, requesting freestanding furniture, chairs, and lockers effective immediately. This requirement will be awarded as a sole source/brand name to Contract Furnishers of Hawaii, Inc., (DBA Office Pavilion) for Herman Miller freestanding furniture, Via chairs, Equipto lockers and installation under the authority of FAR 6.302. This requirement is for an additional phase of a furniture purchase and installation project for the C-17 program to purchase freestanding furniture, chairs, and lockers. Currently, the C-17 program is in the process of having over $1.3M worth of Herman Miller, Via and Equipto furniture/items and appliances installed in its three new buildings. The previous requirement was procured through full and open competition and awarded to Contract Furnishers of Hawaii, Inc., for Herman Miller, Via and Equipto brand furnitures. Since the items are peculiar to Herman Miller, Via and Equipto, any deviation from these furniture/chair/locker manufacturers will negatively impact the mission when reconfigurations are necessary. Issues with configurations, compatibility, functionality, structure, finish and colors will arise which would not be cost effective for the Government and negatively impact the mission. It is anticipated that no other furniture manufacturer will meet the Government’s requirements of functionality and compatibility with the existing Herman Miller, Via and Equipto furniture. In addition to requiring Herman Miller furniture, Via chairs, and Equipto lockers, the Government has determined that Contract Furnishers of Hawaii, Inc. is the logical follow-on contractor to complete the project because it is the only authorized dealer of Herman Miller furniture in the state of Hawaii. Also, Contract Furnishers of Hawaii, Inc. is familiar with the layout of the offices and requirements for the first phase of the C-17 program’s installation. Therefore, having them perform the additional phase of the installation would provide a single furniture point of contact for the coordination and movement of Government personnel between each of the phases. This continuity of effort would provide for a successful move of personnel to their new office spaces and limit the use of Government resources in the form of down time.
