- 11th Contracting Squadron/LGCN, Bolling AFB, Washington, D.C., intends to award a sole source open-market contract to SUN Micro Systems (SUN), Inc., Vienna, VA., for SUN Hardware/Software Maintenance Renewal on Contract FA7012-05-F-A001 in support of the Air Force Studies & Analyses Agency (AFSAA). The maintenance renewal is required to sustain mission capability and replace existing agency hardware and software maintenance support. SUN provides both hardware and software maintenance support services to SUN Workstations and Servers currently being used at AFSAA. They are the company capable to provide AFSAA the support that is required for their current computer systems. They are the only vendor that can provide licensing for the operating system, Solaris; that runs on this particular hardware platform. SUN is the only vendor that can provide AFSAA with security patches that are required by the Air Force Cert office. These systems are used to run highly complex models and simulations for the Air Force Chief of Staff. These systems are used to directly support Operation Enduring Freedom and others, providing the war-fighter a technological edge over our enemies. AFSAA can not afford lengthy outages related to hardware or software sustainment. The maintenance renewal period covers 01 October 2005 through 30 September 2006. Award will be made on or about 01 October 2005. This acquisition will be a Firm-Fixed Price award. The NAICS Code assigned to this requirement is 541519 with a size standard of $21,000,000.00.
