Description
The Library of Congress Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division operate a full service motion picture conservation center located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton Ohio. The primary purpose of the Center is to conserve, preserve, and restore the Library?s film archive, the largest of its kind in the United States. Being that the Dayton, Ohio facility is only equipped to produce copies of black and white motion pictures, it only makes sense that, due to the depth and diversity of the motion picture collections, we have as many tools on hand as is possible to attempt to accurately copy and preserve an art form who?s techniques and technologies are rapidly disappearing from the World motion picture markets. It is the Library?s understanding that there is only one source of black and white motion picture film stock materials in the World and that is the German company, ORWO. Midridge Image Supplies Inc. is the sole United States distributor of said film stock(s), therefore the Library of Congress intends to purchase through a sole source the following items: 1. Orwo B&W, PF2 Plus AHU Positive Print Stock, Poly Base (2000 ft rolls). 2. Orwo B&W DN21 Dupe Negative Stock w/AHU, Poly Base (2000 ft rolls). Any other company/manufacturer that feels it is capable of and believes its film stock can meet all the above performance requirements can apply to the Library for consideration. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. The Government must receive all such statements by close of business 12PM EST, Friday September 30, 2005 to be considered. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed Order (Contract) based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any information received from interested firms/manufacturers responding to this notice will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any questions regarding this Notice shall be in writing and submitted to the Contracting Officer, Jackie R. Johnson, Jr. via email at jjohn@loc.gov.
