Description
Sources Sought The Research, Development and & Engineering Command (RDECOM) Engineering Directorate, Manufacturing Science & Technology Division is seeking new sources for the application of technologies required to manufacture system electronic en closures which are lighter and more affordable than the current industry baseline metallic enclosure employed on most DoD weapon systems. Enclosures are typically fabricated in small specialized quantities from metallic materials, such as aluminum which a re costly and add unnecessary weight to aircraft, missiles and ground equipment. This announcement is intended, IAW FAR Clause 52.215.3, to solicit potential vendors for evolving the technology necessary to produce electronic (such as avionic) enclosures from lighter weight materials. Further, these enclosures need to be produced with the cost benefits of economies of scale, while the lot consists of slightly different sizes and or configurations. Respondents to this solicitation must provide, at a minim um, the general approach they would take, the experience that shows their capabilities and qualifications to perform a project to evolve this type of manufacturing technology to a production capability. This is a market survey requesting information only. No solicitation will be issued against this notice. Interested sources should provide supporting documentation NLT 7 October 2005 to: U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, AMSAM-AC-RD-RED/Deidra Barnes (or Alternate POC: Zac York), Bldg 5400, Room B1 45, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898. Phone: 256-876-7298, Email: deidra.barnes@redstone.army.mil (Alternate POC, Zac York, contact info: Phone 256-876-8062, Email zac.york@redstone.army.mil):(Subject: SFL Market Survey) AND U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Researc h Development and Engineering Center, AMSRD-AMR-SE-MT/Mr. Warren Alford, Building 5400, Room S-239, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898-5270. Phone: 256.313.6498 FAX: 256.842.7656, Email: warren.alford@us.army.mil (Subject: SFL Market Survey). Again in accordanc e with FAR Clause 52.215-3, the Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this solicitation or to otherwise pay for the information solicited. Once the information requested is received and evaluated, the vendor may be contacted to pr ovide a detailed proposal for qualification and specific work.
