Description
Description: The Department of Defense Dependent Schools Europe (DoDDS-E) Information Technology Division has a need for one Information Technology technician to provide On-Site Help Desk support at the DoDDS-E Bahrain School in Manama, Bahrain. DoDDS-E operates 110 elementary and secondary schools for children of U.S. military members and Government civilian employees stationed in Bahrain, Belgium, England, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Turkey. The primary network management functions are located at Headquarters DoDDS-E in Wiesbaden, Germany. The Bahrain School contains grades K-12 and has approximately 400 students and 60 staff. Most workstations are leased and are the Dell Optiplex models GX240, GX260 and GX270. These desktops are covered by the manufacturer?s warranty for on-site repair. There are approximately 330 workstations running Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional and MS Office 2000 Professional, and associated peripheral equipment including laser printers and scanners. The school has several laptop computers as well. The school has a variety of network and workstation based software applications used for school management and instruction. Management software is configured according to standards maintained at DoDDS-Europe in Wiesbaden, Germany. Instructional software is a combination of COTS and modified COTS. The school has a campus network connecting all offices, classrooms and computer labs. Cabling is category 5 UTP with standard RJ45 connectors. Network cabinets are connected with a 100mb fiber optic backbone in FDDI configuration. The network configuration is managed by the DoDDS-Europe Network Administration Branch from Wiesbaden, Germany. Internet connectivity is provided through a local Internet Service Provider. Internet filtering and cashing are managed by the DoDDS-Europe Network Administration Branch in Wiesbaden, Germany. All users have password protected network accounts in a Microsoft Active Directory worldwide domain administered by the DoDDS-Europe System Administration Branch in Wiesbaden, Germany. Staff have email accounts on Microsoft Exchange 2000 running on a dedicated Microsoft Windows 2003 server on site, but administrated by the DoDDS-Europe System Administration Branch in Wiesbaden, Germany. and use MS Outlook 2003 as the email client. Server configurations and standards are managed by the DoDDS-Europe Systems Administration Branch in Wiesbaden, Germany. All users are American English speakers and all communications under this contract shall be conducted in English. Contractor personnel interacting with DoDDS personnel must be proficient in the English language, both verbal and written, and capable of conducting a technical conversation concerning their work. Primary Support Hours are 0700-1630 local time. Primary Support Days are Saturday through Wednesday, except for local and some official American Holidays. Required Services - Customer Support/On-Site: The services required include, but are not limited to, the following duties. Responds to customer incident requests forwarded by the DoDDS-E Customer Service Center (CSC) in the following areas: Installing, imaging, and configuring desktop PCs to include associated equipment peripherals, such as printers, scanners, other devices. Troubleshooting desktop PC hardware and software problems that require on-site service support. Performing workstation operating systems (OS) support to include patch management, service pack upgrades, and remote management tools. Installing and configuring software applications that have been approved by DoDDS management and cannot be performed remotely. Reporting warranty required services to the DoDDS-E CSC. Performing basic system administration tasks such as adding or deleting user accounts, resetting passwords and monitoring server health. Responsible for updating, logging, and closing customer incidents referred by the CSC. Assist with various operational duties such as tape backup, and respond to system alerts and messages that require on-site support. Providing telephone and remote management support to other technical support personnel in resolving customer incidents. Assist in resolving server or network infrastructure problems, as the on-site support person working under the direction of the IT staff. Maintaining IT systems in compliance with Department of Defense, DoDEA and DoDDS?Europe IT policies and standard configurations The planned contract type is firm fixed price Requirements with a base year and four (4) one-year options. Contract start is projected on 1 Nov 2005 The procurement will be conducted under full and open, unrestricted competition basis.
