THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, NAVAL EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL TECHNOLOGY DIVISION (NAVEODTECHDIV) IS REQUESTING INFORMATION FROM VENDORS AND MANUFACTURERS ON CONTAINMENT VESSELS THAT CAN SAFELY TRANSPORT MILITARY BLASTING CAPS AND/OR ELECTRICALLY INITIATED .50 CALIBER BLANK CARTRIDGES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO HIGH EXPLOSIVES (E.G. INTIMATE CONTACT, SAME VEHICLE). DESCRIPTIVE LITERATURE SHOULD INCLUDE PRODUCT DATA SHEETS, PRODUCT QUALITY, RELIABILITY, COMPANY POINT OF CONTACT, AND PRICING INFORMATION. PRODUCT SAMPLES MAY BE SUBMITTED FOR EVALUATION PURPOSES, BUT WILL NOT BE RETURNED. DESIRED SYSTEM PARAMETERS: 1) CONTAINMENT VESSEL CERTIFIED TO U.N HAZARD CLASSIFICATION 1.4S 2) CONTAINER CONFIGURABLE TO INCLUDE MILITARY STYLE BLASTING CAPS (QUANTITY 10 +/-) 3) ENHANCED OBJECTIVE: CONTAINER CONFIGURABLE TO INCLUDE ELECTRICALLY INITIATED .50 CALIBER BLANK CARTRIDGES (QUANTITY TBD) 4) REUSABLE 5) ONE PERSON PORTABLE 6) CERTIFIED FOR TRANSPORT BY ANY DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE VEHICLE (INCLUDING AIRCRAFT AND WATERCRAFT) THE DATA COLLECTED FROM THIS MARKET RESEARCH EFFORT WILL BE UTILIZED TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE ABILITY OF COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE ITEMS TO MEET PROJECTED NEEDS. DESIRED SYSTEM PARAMETERS DO NOT NECESSARILY REPRESENT THE MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CAPABILITIES. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS NOT A FORMAL SOLICITATION AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL.
