Description
Contractor, as an independent organization and not as an agency of the Federal Government, shall furnish personnel, material, facilities and equipment necessary to assess neurocognitive, neuroendocrine, proteomic and genomic biomakers and disease pathways that underlie chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Because patients come from Georgia, the study must be conducted in Georgia. Emory University Hospital is the only hospital in Georgia that has a dedicated general clinical research Center (GCRC) with staff experienced in, and facilities appropriate to, evaluation of the neuroendocrinology, cognitive function, stress responses and fMRI of persons with CFS. A new contractor would have to establish dedicated GCRC facilities with appropriate state of the art research fMRI in Atlanta and hire and train new support staff to evaluate study subjects. Emory University Principal Investigators have developed the clinical assessment of subjects with chronic fatigue syndrome and other fatiguing illnesses in Georgia protocol in collaboration with CDC CFS Research Program staff. Consequently, it is believed that Emory University School of Medicine, Dept. of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, is the sole source having the capabilities which will meet the requirements of this solicitation for the reasons described above. It is the intent of CDC to award a contract with Emory University School of Medicine if this is found to be true. The NAICS code is 622110. NOTE: THIS NOTICE MAY HAVE POSTED ON WWW.FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (28-MAY-2005). IT ACTUALLY APPEARED OR REAPPEARED ON THE FEDBIZOPPS SYSTEM ON 23-SEP-2005, BUT REAPPEARED IN THE FTP FEED FOR THIS POSTING DATE. PLEASE CONTACT fbo.support@gsa.gov REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
