Description
This Federal Business Opportunity Announcement is notice the TRICARE Region 6, 7 & 8 which includes 46 Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming are initiating the standardization process for the product line of Sterilization Wraps and Peel Packs. The intent of this standardization is to establish regionally preferred sources for ho spital supply items and to standardize purchasing of these products for the MTFs. Additional TRICARE Regions may elect to join after the award. Clinical Product Team (CPTs) will evaluate this product line. CPTs are composed of Physicians, Nurses, Med ical Technicians, Infection Control Officers and other clinicians who have expertise and knowledge of the of the products. They will review and technically evaluate the products submitted. TRICARE Region 6, 7 & 8 deems the CPT members to be medical exper ts. Therefore, they are qualified to determine which products are acceptable. Their recommendation can be accomplished by literature review, presentation demonstration or clinical evaluation. Vendors interested in having their products evaluated for po ssible inclusion in the standardization process should carefully review the stated requirements below. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS for this product line includes but are not limited to the following: 1) Barrier Effectiveness  prevents contamination and mainta in sterility 2) Permeability/Penetrability  allows for the effective penetration of sterilants (steam, ethylene oxide, plasmas, irradiation, ozone and moisture) 3) Aeration  allows for the post-sterilization dissipation of moisture and the sterilants us ed 4) efficiency of use product can be easily inserted, maintains seal integrity,  has the ability to conform to the contents, and has ease of presentation to the sterile fields maintaining aseptic technique. 5) Drapeability  conforms to the contents a nd contours of the product/instrument and can be opened on a flat surface or held out of the sterile field during presentation 6) Flexibility  accommodates any size or shape article 7) Durable Package Integrity  resists punctures, tears, and abrasions. Conforms to measurement standards for tensile strength, porosity, and moisture vapor transmission rates. 7)Toxin Free  non-toxic and non-toxic and non-fast dyes prevent adverse physical reaction of handler or change/coloration of the contents or wrappe r 8) Odor Free  prevents any allergic reactions from inhalation of chemical processes used in manufacturing of laundering. 9) Lint Free/Minimal Linting  devoid of or contains minimal linting properties 10) Content Verification  the ability to identify the internal contents of the product produced visually or by labeling. If your company currently holds a Distribution and Pricing Agreement (DAPA) for the Medical-Surgical product line for Sterilization Wraps, your company is eligible to participate in t he standardization effort for this region. If your company is not a current DAPA holder for this product line, you are still eligible to participate in this standardization effort for this region by contacting the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP), Mr. John Charalabidis at (215) 737-7124 or e-mail (John.Charalabidis@dla.mil) to apply for a DAPA. Your company can be considered once DAPA paperwork is pending at DSCP. After you have notified the POC below of your intent to participate, the POC will adv ise you of the next steps to take. To learn more about the Regional Standardization Program, review www.dla.mil. Distribution of these products for the MTFs will be accomplished through Cardinal Health, the DoD Medical-Surgical Prime Vendor for Region 6, 7 & 8. If your company can provide any of these products, please forward literature of all items available from your company that meet the product descrip tions above and any corresponding product literature no later than 14 October 2005. Those companies that do no reply by this date may be eliminated from consideration. If the CPT recommends a company, the TRBO may request sales data to facilitate a conve rsion plan. This information will be treated as proprietary and not releasable. Suppliers may be required to conduct clinical trials and provide clinical samples at no cost to the government.
