Description
The Mechanical Engineering Department at the U S Naval Academy (USNA) has a requirement to for services for modifying their Varian CL 1800 Linear Accelerator. The manufacturer is Technical Options, 213 Dayton Road, Newark OH 43055. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of all under FAR 6.302-1 only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five days after date of publication of this synopsis shall be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice or received as a result of a notice of intent shall normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Clin 0001 ? Modify Varian CL 1800 Linear Accelerator such that it is capable of performing high current horizontal beam tests. Accelerator is to be provided by Technical Options. Shop engineering time not to exceed 40 hours. Clin 0002 ? Perform three (3) tests and evaluations of one-hour duration with high current electron beam irradiating modern communication devices. Devices are to be supplies by the USNA. Tests are to be performed at Technical Option Inc facility located in Newark OH. Shop engineering time three (3) hours. Clin 0003 ? Construct laser alignment system for use in beam location measurements. Shop time not to exceed five (5) hours. Clin 0004 ? Mount ionization chamber, which is provided by the USNA, for beam monitoring purposes. Clin 0005 ? Provide technical guidance as required performing high electron beam tests and evaluations. Clin 0006 ? Provide physicist (s) consultant to perform radiation measurements needed to satisfy local regulatory requirements. Consulting fee for physicist shall not exceed 40 hours plus travel expenses. This solicitation shall close on Tuesday, 27 September 2005, at 3:30 PM local time.
