- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) contemplates a multiple award of a one year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity, task order contract with six one year option periods as a mechanism to provide the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) with support for intellectual property related services. These services will include patent prosecution and other related services CDC-Wide. CDC anticipates filing about 75 U.S. patent applications during fiscal year 2006 and increasing numbers thereafter. CDC’s active prosecution docket includes approximately 600 U.S. cases with corresponding foreign equivalents. The inventions claimed in the CDC patent portfolio fall generally into the following research categories - HIV, infectious diseases, immunology and immunosciences, genetic engineering, biotechnology, research tools, bioinstrumentation, medical devices, mechanical devices and methods related to occupational injury prevention and safety, and mining. For the purpose of the anticipated solicitation there will be three categories of inventions. The three categories of inventions are defined as follows: biochemical includes biochemistry, biomedical sciences, recombinant technology (genetic engineering), cell biology, immunosciences, organic and inorganic chemistry, and pharmaceutical and analytical chemistry. The other two categories are Electrical/Software, and Mechanical/Miscellaneous. Representative inventions in these categories are electrical devices, computer programs, instrumentation, and apparatus. Services may be required for various aspects of intellectual property law including trademarks, copyrights, and patents. The nature, and complexity of specific work requirements will vary consistent with the scope of the statement of work, and will be clarified via individual Orders. The date specified for receipt of offers will be approximately 30 days after the RFP issuance date which is projected on or about September 12, 2005.
