- Description
- The purpose of this amendment is to provide additional information for the topic "Technology to Develop an Ambient Temperature Specimen Transport System" as follows: 1) Would it be reasonable to assume the "ambient temperature," that temperature we are trying to keep the sample at, to be 15 degrees C - 25 degrees C? If a tighter range is required it is important that we know that. Answer: Ambient temps should be 15 degrees ? 30 degrees C. 2) What would you consider to be "inexpensive" for transporting medical samples? Would $30-50 per use of the specialized container when in full manufactured quantities be reasonable? Answer: The cost should be less than $50 per use. 3) Can you give examples of the sample/specimen container -- a micro-centrifuge tube (1ml volume) or a 15 cc blood vial, glass or plastic? For accessing the biohazard level, is it safe to assume the specimen may be blood? What type(s) of medical samples will be transported? The solicitation specifies only "nucleic acid amplification assays." What type of container? (plastic, glass?); what volume? what type of seal (snap, screw top?); what is the sample? (nucleic acid within saliva, blood, urine, or an oral cavity swab?). Answer: The container should be plastic (similar to nunc freezer vials), 1 ml?10 ml volume size. The samples could be nucleic acids within saliva, blood, urine, or an oral cavity. The seal for the vial should be an o-ring type with a gasket for specimen containment. No other terms or conditions are changed by reason of this amendment.
