- Description
- The US Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service in Pullman, WA. has a requirement for the transport of sheep includes movement of pregnant ewes and sheep with clinical scrapie. We require a trucker licenses to move livestock across state lines, with experience in moving sheep. The vehicle must be cleaned and disinfected following government protocols following transport of sheep. Sheep must be moved in accordance with Federal animal care and use rules, which includes stops for feeding and watering. The price per mile is set at $2 per mile; the amount paid by the regulatory agency (APHIS) for movement of sheep is the scrapie control program. The calculation of $2 per mile from origin all over the north west where the sheep are located to the USDA facility in Pullman, WA. 24 hours notice for pickup is typical as needed. RFQ's are not available for this requirement. The USDA intends on negotiating with the only known source, Agri-West.
