- Description
- The US Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, intends to award a contract to repair the Mouth of the Columbia River South Jetty. Work involves placement of approximately (1) 12,000 tons of stone having a size range of 7 to 15 tons; (2) 60,000 to ns of stone having a size range of 10 to 20 tons; and (3) 60,000 tons of stone having a size range of 15 to 30 tons on the existing damaged jetty. The solicitation and resulting contract will contain a base and optional work items. In general, the base bid item will cover the repair of the innermost damaged segment of the jetty with stone having a size range of 15 to 30 tons and 7 to 15 tons in the first year construction period. All work in the second year construction period would involve repair of the ou termost damaged segment of the jetty with stone having a size range of 10 to 20 tons and 7 to 15 tons and is optional contingent upon the availability of funding. There is a slight chance that all work will be required to be performed in one construction s eason contingent upon the availability of funding. It is anticipated that the construction period will extend from March 1, 2006 to November 1, 2007. Estimated cost range of the work is between $10,000,000 and $20,000,000. Request for Proposal will be ava ilable on or about December 2, 2005. Proposals will be due on or about January 4, 2006 or 30 days after issue. NOTE: This procurement will be a Best Value buy with competitive proposals. Proposal rating factors will be part of the solicitation. A Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) shall be provided for all new contracts with the Portland District. For this project the person that will act as the SSHO is required to have a minimum of 3 years safety work on similar projects and a 30-hour OSHA c onstruction safety class, or equivalent, taken within the last 3 years. The SSHO may have other duties for this work that include being the Contractor on-site Project Manager and/or the on-site CQC Manager or other responsible individual.
