Description
This is a sources sought notice for acquisition planning and no formal solicitation exists at this time. Military Sealift Command is requesting input to determine the technical capability of potential offerors to perform a tow of the R/V LAUREN from Atlantic Dry-dock (Jacksonville, FL.) to the Naval Inactive Ships On-Site Maintenance Office (Philadelphia, PA.). If it is determined that two or more small businesses are capable of performing this tow, the resulting solicitation may be set aside. Interested offerors must submit a brief but complete capability statement that demonstrates a capability to perform this service for an evaluation to this office no later than 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 24 October 2005. All responses to this sources sought notice shall include company name and address, business size and type, point of contact to include email address and phone number and a cost estimate. This information will be used by the Contracting Officer to assist in developing the procurement strategy, including whether a small business set-aside is warranted. WORK TO BE PERFORMED: Tow the R/V LAUREN from Jacksonville to Philadelphia. THE R/V Lauren is 190 feet long, 24 feet wide, with a maximum navigation draft of 10 feet. The ship displaces aboye 260 long tons. The propellers are gone and the rudders are locked. The calculated tow stress is around 15,000 lbs. at 10 knots tow speed. Pick-up will be NLT 14 November with delivery NLT 23 November 2005.
