Description

Pursuant to the requirements of the Competition in Contracting Act (CICA) as implemented by FAR Subpart 6.3 and in accordance with the requirements of FAR 6.303-1, the justification for the use of the statutory authority under FAR Subpart 6.3 is justified by the following facts and rationale required under FAR 6.303-2 as follows: The US Coast Guard, Maintenance and Logistics Command, Atlantic, intends to issue a sole source purchase order with ADRICK MARINE CORP to purchase Adrick Marine heat pumps (HP-1,2,3,4,5, and 6 as per ADRICK MARINE CORP drawings 1464-1 and 1464-2) and conduct maintenance and repairs on the CGCs IDA LEWIS and JOSHUA APPLEBY (175 WLM). Award will be made IAW FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The parts required are specific to the Coast Guard original design requirements manufactured by ADRICK MARINE CORP; they are the OEM for all repairs and components. These parts are not interchangeable with other Air conditioning manufacturers. This is a simplified acquisition. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A determination by the Government not to compete as a result of quotes received is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
