Description
CONTACT Mr. Patrick Lyman, Quality Assurance Specialist, 732-532-8824. The Power Sources Team of the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC), US Army Communications Electronics Life Cycle Management Command (C-E LCMC) is in the process of forming a new spec ification for military non-rechargeable lithium batteries intended for portable communications electronics equipment. MIL-PRF-49471B and its associated specification sheets describe the current battery configurations that the batteries of the new specifica tion will replace. Be aware that the current descriptions of these batteries will be somewhat different in the new specification. One major difference will be the incorporation of both State of Charge Indicator (SOCI) and System Management Bus (SMBus) data output in many of the batteries. The new specification is intended to include a qualification requirement. Qualification is planned for two families of batteries: 14 lithium manganese dioxide batteries and 2 lithium sulfur dioxide batteries. The goal is t o establish a Qualified Product List (QPL) for all these batteries. As part of the process, we need to know which producers would have an interest in participating in the qualification program should we be authorized to conduct it. We need notice of such i nterest prior to applying for authorization. Those sources that provide us with a notice of intent to participate will be involved in the review process for the specification. Each source may decide at any point to withdraw from participation. Should we be authorized to conduct the program, an announcement seeking applicants for qualification will be issued once the specification is final. It is requested that those sources that wish to participate in the qualification program for military non-rechargeable lithium batteries provide within two weeks of the date of this notice, a written notification of their intent to participate to: Patrick Lyman, Quality Assurance Specialist, US Army C-E LCMC LRC Power Sources Team, (732) 532-8824, DSN 992-8824, and e-mail address Patrick.Lyman@us.army.mil. The mailing address is: HQ, US Army C-E LCMC, ATTN: AMSEL-LC-P-PST (Lyman), Building 2700, Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703-5601. EMAIL ADDRESS: patrick.lyman@mail1.monmouth.army.mil
