Description
Services of an Architectural or Engineering firm with specialized experience in design and construction of hospital projects to participate in investigation, design, preparation of working drawings/construction documents, and construction period services for Project No. 596-06-101, REPLACE OBSOLETE MEDICAL GAS SYSTEM, CDD at VA Medical Center, Cooper Drive Division, Lexington, KY. Project involves a full review of main air, oxygen, and vacuum medical gas systems to determine all system components requiring replacement or upgrade. Project involves replacement of the medical air compressor system, the medical vacuum system and the outdated monitoring system with new state-of-the-art systems to monitor the numerous system features required in current edition of NFPA 99. Also included is site work to provide exterior building connection point for truck-based tank service of bulk oxygen to make system NFPA 99 compliant. Project also involves replacement of original building shut-off valves that do not hold. System redundancies will be increased with replacement and/or additional equipment. Project will consider replacement of original med gas system outlets required for code compliance or need for medical center outlet standardization, e.g. quick disconnect vs. screw-on. Estimated construction cost range is between $250,000 and $500,000. Project drawings will be accomplished in AutoCAD .dwg format; specifications will be accomplished in Microsoft Word .doc format. Area of consideration is restricted to firms within 100 miles radius of VAMC Lexington, KY. Interested firms, with required specialization, must submit three copies each of Standard Form 330, Architect ? Engineer Qualifications, to the issuing office no later than 2:00 p.m., November 23, 2005. Forms may be downloaded from www.gsa.gov/forms. Respondents will be reviewed on the basis of: professional qualifications; specialized experience and technical competence in projects of similar type; ability to accomplish the work in the required timeframe; past performance on contracts for projects of similar type; team proposed for this project; previous experience of proposed team; project control (design schedule control and quality assurance reviews of submission documents); and estimating effectiveness. Note: each of these specific review items shall be addressed on the qualifications packages submitted. With reference to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, this solicitation is issued on an unrestricted basis. North American Industry Classification No. 541330, with a size standard of $4 million is applicable. Award is subject to availability of funds. This is NOT a Request for Proposals.
