Description
The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is seeking sources for a Mobile Alternating Current System (MACS). The water/solar/wind-fueled, 10kW MACS will be tested at USMA, and then shipped to Ft. Irwin, CA, during the summer of 2006. The purpose of this project is to test a working 10kW energy source that is built on hybrid technologies of solar power, wind power and hydrogen-fueled internal combustion engine. Hydrogen is obtained from the electrolysis of water. The goal is to reduce the operations (maintenance) of Army internal combustion engines and emissions while simultaneously reducing fuel burden for both remote power at installations and for the deployed force. Cadets will model the system and compare test results with model results. Based on performance data, cadets will recommend an improved design for future versions of the MACS. The contractor will identify and install appropriate sensors to measure flow rates of water and hydrogen; hydrogen pressures; water, hydrogen and internal combu stion engine exhaust temperatures; power provided by the wind turbine, photovoltaic cells, battery, and internal combustion engine; and power provided to an electrolyzer and to an external load. Contractor will integrate sensors into a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system and software required for all communications and transfer of data to a notebook PC. Required sensors include two low-flow hydrogen flow meters, one water flow meter, six power transducers, four temperature sensors, and one pressure sensor. Interested sources are requested to provide their capabilities by email to Patricia.Campbell@usma.army.mil or fax 845-938-5855. The NAICS for this requirement is 541330 with a size standard of $4 million. In addition to your capabil ites, provide company size standard and type which will be used for any set aside decision.
