Description
The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is seeking sources to identify, provide, install, and intergrate sensors for a Mobile Alternating Current System (MACS). Contractor requirements: The contractor will identify and install appropriate sensor s to measure flow rates of water and hydrogen; hydrogen pressures; water, hydrogen and internal combustion engine exhaust temperatures; power provided by the wind turbine, photovoltaic cells, battery, and internal combustion engine; and power provided to a n electrolyzer and to an external load. Contractor will integrate sensors into a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system which must communicate with data logger on a notebook computer. Required sensors include one two-flow hydrogen flow m eter, one water flow meter, six power transducers, four temperature sensors, and one pressure sensor. Background: The purpose of this project is to test a working 10kW energy source that is built on hybrid technologies of solar power, wind power and hydr ogen-fueled internal combustion engine. Hydrogen is obtained from the electrolysis of water. The goal is to reduce the operations (maintenance) of Army internal combustion engines and emissions while simultaneously reducing fuel burden for both remote po wer at installations and for the deployed force. Cadets will model the system and compare test results with model results. Based on performance data, cadets will recommend an improved design for future versions of the MACS. The water/solar/wind-fueled, 10kW MACS will be tested at USMA, and then shipped to Ft. Irwin, CA, during the summer of 2006. Interested sources are requested to provide their capabilities by email to Patricia.Campbell@usma.army.mil or fax 845-938-5855. The NAICS for this requirement is 811219 with a size standard of $6 million. In addition to your capabilities, provide company size standard and type. This information will be used for the set aside decision. No solicitation is available at this time.
