- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 7, intends to award a sole source procurement to the Far-Eastern Shipping Company, Inc., Vladivostok, Russia, to provide an ice breaking vessel to be used as a platform for launching Pacific walrus tagging operations in the Spring of 2006. The ship will be used to traverse the ice packed waters of the North Bering Sea, St Lawrence Polynya and Gulf of Anadyr. This effort will allow the Fish and Wildlife Service to obtain required information associated with making an estimate of size of the Pacific walrus population. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and the Government does not intend to accept proposals received. Award will be made 15 days after publication of this notice.
