- Description
- The FAA is seeking a prototype Lamp Housing Assembly (LHA) with Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps for testing. A previous market survey resulted in four responses, however only two companies indicated that a prototype LHA could be available within four months. New Bedford Panoramex (NBP) and Laser Guidance Incorporated (LGI) are invited to submit two (2) each prototype LHAs for testing at the FAA Technical Center. The purpose for the testing is to determine how closely the LHAs meet the FAA photometric and the transition requirements. Both NBP and LGI are expected to provide a single configuration of the LHA, however should either company have two different configurations, the decision to test both would be at the agency's discretion. The FAA is prepared to reimburse each vendor up to a maximum of $100,000 to offset justifiable and supportable costs in preparing the LHAs and housing of the same configuration for FAA testing and shipment within a fixed priced development contract. Any consumables must be included in the proposal. 1) The LHA evaluation results from the Technical Center will be provided to each vendor within 120 days after receipt of the LHA. The findings will assist the FAA's development of requirements for the LED Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) system to be competed late 2007. If other companies have a LHA prototype and are interested in the test procedure, a capability statement and evidence of a physical prototype must be sent to the address below within 30 days of the date this announcement. Include a letter of intent to provide a prototype in accordance with paragraph 2: Upon expiration of the 30 days, no capability statements or prototypes will be considered.
