- The U.S. Coast Guard has decided not to set aside this acquisition for HUBZone concerns or for Service Disabled Veteran-owned Small Business concerns because none of these business concerns complied with the requirements of the sources sought synopsis. THIS REQUIREMENT IS A SMALL BUSINESS SET ASIDE FOR COMMERCIAL ITEMS. This firm fixed price requirements type contract will cover one calendar year. This acquisition is to repair approximately 128 Motoren Und Tubine Union (MTU) 8V396TE94 Marine Propulsion Diesel Engine Components for eight Coast Guard vessels. The NAICS Code is 333618 and the corresponding business size standard is 1,000 employees. The scope of the acquisition includes the following items: Disassemble, Clean and Inspect Turbochargers; Repair and Reassemble Turbochargers; Disassemble, Clean, and Inspect Cylinder Heads; Repair and Reassemble Cylinder Heads; Disassemble, Clean and Inspect Fresh Water Pumps; Repair and Reassemble Fresh Water Pumps; Disassemble, Clean and Inspect Sea Water Pumps; Disassemble, Clean and Inspect Starter Motors; Repair and Reassemble Starter Motors. The contractor will be responsible for shipping the engine components to various Coast Guard facilities listed on each individual delivery order. The desired turn around time for the repair is 30 days. A solicitation will be issued electronically at www.fedbizops.gov as a Request for Quotes on or around October 6, 2005. The RFQ number is HSCG80-06-Q-3FA016, hard copies of the RFQ will not be issued. Quotes are due on November 1, 2005. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the USCG. The government will award a firm fixed price contract resulting from the RFQ to the responsible quoter whose conformance to the RFQ will be most advantageous to the government, price and other factors considered, which will be identified in the RFQ. Anticipated date of award is November 4, 2005. Funds are not presently available for this project. No award will be made under this solicitation until funds are available. The government reserves the right to cancel this solicitation either before or after the opening or closing date.
