Description
The National Science Foundation is soliciting proposals for helicopter services to support United States Antarctic Program (USAP) operations in Antarctica. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to operate and maintain the contractor supplied helicopter fleet. The contractor should anticipate aircraft quantity and mix to provide approximately 2,000 flight hours per season. Seasonal capability is variable and should meet light (AS350 B2, B3 or equal) to medium (BH 212, or BH 205 A ++ or equal) lift requirements (900 hrs light and 900 hrs medium lift respectively). Nominal operational period will be October through the following February, with occasional early season augment on or about 15 August. Antarctic operations will be from USAP bases and field camps. Principal operations encompass 180 miles of McMurdo Station, Antarctica. The helicopters will be based operationally at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, for the term of the contract, to support the USAP. Proposals are due 13 January 2006. A two year Firm Fixed Price contract with five option periods of one year each is anticipated to be awarded in June 2006.
