Description
GovWorks is issuing a Request for Proposal on behalf of the U.S. Army, Logistics Transformation Agency (LTA) who has a requirement to refine and enhance the design and capabilities of the Phase I Next Generation prototype tag, while evaluating additional technologies for potential inclusion as may be required to close ITV gaps or to provide additional capabilities desired by the government. Based on evaluations/testing conducted during Phase II, recommendations will be made concerning the addition of other technologies to the Next Generation tag design or to design variant(s) to meet potentially differing ITV/TAV requirements. Phase II will include the development and testing of additional prototype units. These technologies may include: 1. Cellular technology will be evaluated for possible inclusion into the Next Generation tag to provide a communications capability in lieu of or in addition to SATCOM. 2. Wireless networking for global connectivity, including the US Army CAISI system, may be integrated into the Next Generation tag. 3. Technologies that may support tag to tag communications will be evaluated for possible inclusion into a future Next Generation tag design. 4. In addition, the use of an internal container tag utilizing ultra wide band (UWB) technology to gain "in the box" visibility of container contents may be developed and test in conjunction with the prototype Next Generation tag. The period of performance will be five (5) years from the date of award. The place of performance will be at the contractor's site. This requirement is being procured using full & open competition and is open to all business sizes. The resultant award is expected to be a single award Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. The NAICS code for this requirement is 541710 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. The competitive Request for Proposal (RFP), specifications, RFP amendments, and all questions and answers related to this procurement will be made available via the Internet at http://www.govworks.gov/vendor/csolicit.asp under RFP number 1406-04-06-RP-60916. The RFP is anticipated for release to the vendor community on or about 09 December 2005, and will be available via the Internet at the above web site. ***Potential offerors are responsible for accessing the web site.
