Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the Internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the NSWC Division Crane. The Navy is seeking information regarding the capability to retrieve data from physically damaged hard drives of any type, including, but not limited to the following: (1) standard commercial hard drives for desktop and/or notebook computers; (2) IDE/EIDE hard drives; (3) SCSI hard drives; (4) serial ATA hard drives; (5) firewire hard drives; (6) USB and USB2 hard drives; (7) ATA 33, ATA 66, ATA 133, ATA 150 hard drives; (8) internal and external drives of the above; (9) hard drives of any rpm including but not limited to 4200 rpm, 5400 rpm, 7200 rpm, 10000 rpm; (10) any hard drive listed above in single or raid 1 or raid 2 configuration; and (11) hard drives of any capacity that are listed above. We are trying to ascertain if it is possible given current technology to extract data from a hard drive with a hole through the platter or warping of platter. Respondents should submit the following: (1) proposed approach (including pictures, if available or applicable); (2) advantages and disadvantages of each solution; (3) the Government's ability to maintain the item; (4) timeline for development and delivery; and (5) rough order of magnitude of cost per unit. Interested companies should provide information along with technical questions regarding this announcement to Mr. Darren Crum, e-mail darren.crum@navy.mil Responses should be submitted no later than 12/21/2005. Please include the RFI number (N00164-06-T-0023) on all correspondence. This notice does not constitute an invitation for bids or a request for proposal (RFP), and it is not a commitment by the navy to procure products or services. The Navy is only seeking information for future needs. No RFP solicitation document exists at this time. The Navy does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this request for information, and will not reimburse any costs incurred by interested companies responding to this announcement. However, respondents to this request for information will not be excluded from consideration for contract participation in a ny potential follow-on activity. Please submit, on or before 21 December 2005, company literature, r?sum?s, references, and any other pertinent information for the Government?s evaluation. Include business status (e.g., small business, small disadvantaged business, HUBZone, women-owned, etc.) All information marked as proprietary information will be safeguarded to prevent disclosure to non-Government personnel and entities.
