Description

This notice does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) and the Government is not committed or obligated to pay for any information submitted in response to this notice, and no basis for claim shall arise as a result of this notice or contractor response to this notice. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport will hold an Industry Day January 11, 2006 to present and discuss the architecture of the Weapons Analysis Facility (WAF) simulator. The WAF simulator is a high-fidelity, real-time (physics dynamics based), operational weapons and weapons systems hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulation and analysis tool. For the present design, digitally simulated models that interact with the HWIL systems include the following: the underwater acoustics environment; vehicle targets and sonar objects of interest; and countermeasures when not incorporated as hardware-in-the-loop. The current architecture employs the use of dedicated I/O subsystems and multiple parallel processors running approximately one million lines of C code. To brief interested parties, NUWC will host this Industry Day, January 11, 2006 at its Chafee Auditorium, Building 1346. Registration will start at 8:30AM and the presentations will begin at 9:00AM and end at approximately 12:00PM. The presentation agenda will include a WAF simulator overview; a discussion of the WAF architecture, its limitations and improvement goals; and will end with technical discussions. This will be followed by tours of the WAF facility which will end at approximately 1:00PM. Attendees must register and submit their security information by January 3, 2006. For further information on security, directions and lodging please visit http://www.npt.nuwc.navy.mil/ under visitor information. For information about the WAF and to register, please contact Tom Haley at 401-832-3223 or HaleyTB@npt.nuwc.navy.mil
