- Description
- The purpose of this amendment is post questions and answers regarding this RFP, and to specify last date to submit questions. A. All Questions regarding this RFP shall be submitted in writing by e-mail to thatsanee.knight@dcma.mil, and must be received no later than 16:00 EST on 25 November 2005. B. Questions and Answers regarding this RFP are listed below: 1. How many hosts are currently attached to the cx200? Ans: There are currently 4 systems attached to the CX200; 3 of which are Windows-based. The other is the VMware ESX Host, which will not require PowerPath. The other three hosts are already licensed for PowerPath. 2. What array based software is currently installed on the cx200 Ans: Navisphere 3 - This is an upgrade from a CX200 to CX500. Will there be any equipment reused from the CX200, or will all the equipment be new? Ans: All disks and corresponding shelves will be re-used. 4 - Will there be any data migration from the CX200 to the new CX500? Ans: Since the disks (and corresponding shelves) will be re-used, no migration services should be required 5 - The equipment will fit in a 24U rack. Should we spec a 24U rack or the larger 42U rack? Ans: The CX200 is already in an EMC-branded enclosure. It will be re-used. 6 - Please confirm that this is quantity 1. Ans: The upgrade is for replacing one CX200 (in Virginia) to a CX500. 7 - How many hosts (servers) will be connecting to this CX500? Do we need to quote HBA (host bus adaptor) cards for these hosts? Do you want 2 HBAs per server for redundancy? Is installation of these servers required? Ans: There will be less than 7 hosts connected. All hosts that are connecting already have redundant HBA's and plug into redundant switches. 8 - Dell recommends redundant FC switches for fault tolerance and to eliminate a single point of failure. Is this required? Ans: See answer on Question 7. 9 - Dell recommends redundant power supplies on the CX500. Is this required? Ans: Yes, all components should be redundant. 10 - Is training required for DCMA personnel for SAN operation? Ans: No 11 - Are UPS (uninterruptable power supplies) required? Ans: Already installed in cabinet 12 - Dell recommends 3 year support. Is this correct? Ans: Since this is an unexpected (but very necessary) upgrade for a device that will be coming up for replacement in the next fiscal year, the existing warranty will be fine. 13 - Disks must be at least 146GB 10K FC drives. Can we supply 300GB 10K FC drives? Ans: All existing drives are 146GB.
