- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Optical Technology Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Tyrex Services Group Ltd, of Austin, Texas for a Texas Instruments Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) Discovery 1100 Controller Board -VIS & Accessory Light Modulator Package (ALP). Sole source determination is based on the following: Texas Instruments (TI) is the only manufacturer of this Digital Micromirror Device (DMD). This equipment must be plug-in compatible with NIST?s existing DMD Discovery 1100 Controller Board and also must be interchangeable with NIST?s existing ALP. The only way to guarantee complete plug-in compatibility and interchangeability is to purchase the DMD Discovery 1100 Controller Board and ALPs from Tyrex. Tyrex is the only vendor authorized to sell these items to US customers. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by December 2, 2005, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
