- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey, Columbia Environmental Research Center, Biological Resources Discipline (BRD) in Columbia, Missouri and the EROS Data Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota has a requirement for a subscription to the following Web of Knowledge databases: 1) 3 editions of Current Contents Connect, 2) Zoological Records, 3) BIOSIS Previews, and 4) Web of Science. The Web of Knowledge is the only scientific literature database that features the "times cited" resource. The "times cited" is a critical resource that will allow BRD and EROS staff to track how many times their publications have been cited, and the impact of BRD and EROS publications in the global scientific community. The times cited resource prioritizes recovered articles based on the articles usefulness, thus increasing the efficiency of the scientific literature search for the BRD and EROS staff. The subscription will be for One (1) Base Year plus Four (4) Option Years. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 5.302-1, the government considers the item specified as a sole source from Thomson Scientific, Inc., 3501 Market Street, University City Science Center, Philadelphia, PA 19104 and proposes to negotiate with that firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required services are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-response to this request without further consideration. Affirmative response shall be received by this office by close of business December 29, 2005 by 3:00 PM Mountain Standard Time. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice of this procurement.
