Description
Please note that this synopsis will only be posted on FedBizOpps and ASFI. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District invites all interested contractors and vendors to participate in an industry forum on the proposed Kikiaola Light Draft Harbor project. On August 16, 2005, the Honolulu District issued an unrestricted invitation for bids for the Kikiaola Light Draft Harbor Project. The public bid opening was conducted on September 19, 2005. However due to unexpectedly high bids, a construction contract was not awarded. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to resolicit this project in the near future. However prior to this, the Honolulu District will be conducting an industry forum to elicit contractor input on project features that could be changed or phased in ord er to ensure a constructible and affordable project. The meeting will be held on December 13, 2005, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Hawaii Standard Time at the Fort Shafter Area Office conference room at Tripler Army Medical Center, building 127. Please RSV P by December 8, 2005, by calling Ms. Sharon Ishikawa, Project Manager, at (808) 438-2249 to let us know if you are interested in participating in this meeting. If you are unable to attend but want to submit ideas for discussion at the meeting, then pleas e submit your ideas via electronic mail to Sharon.M.Ishikawa@usace.army.mil no later than 3:00 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time on December 12, 2005. Off-island contractors that wish to participate in the meeting via teleconference call must contact Ms. Ishikawa at (808) 438-2249 no later than December 9, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. Hawaii Standard Time so that appropriate arrangements can be made. The project consists of breakwater reconstruction and dredging. The project will provide light draft navigation improvements at the existing Kikiaola Light Draft Harbor in Kekaha, Island of Kauai, Hawaii. The project includes federal general navigation features which consist of removing 150 feet of the existing outer east stub breakwater, raising the crest elevation and flattening the seaward slope of approximately 735 feet of the existing east breakwater, removing and reconstructing the 85-foot long inn er east breakwater, modifying 220 feet of the existing west breakwater, dredging a 700-foot long entrance channel varying in width from 105 to 205 feet to a depth of 11 feet, and dredging an access channel varying in width from 70 to 105 feet to a depth of seven feet. Two government options include reimbursable work to be constructed for the State of Hawaii. The options include dredging two berthing areas adjacent to the federal access channel to a depth of seven feet. The plans and technical specificati ons for the August 2005 solicitation are available for viewing and/or downloading via our FTP site at ftp://ftp.usace.army.mil/pub/poh/CT/kikiaola/ . The contents in the FTP site will be deleted after 11:00 a.m. (Hawaiian Standard Time), December 9, 2005.
