Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), Surgery Branch (SB), plans to procure on a sole source basis, for CliniMACS CD25 reagents, CD8 reagents, tubing sets, and PBS/EDTA buffers, from Miltenyi Biotech, Inc., 12740 Earhart Avenue, Auburn, CA 95602. The Surgery Branch is working on a project of selective elimination of CD25 expressing cells or CD8 cell isolation from peripheral blood for re-infusion into patients with melanoma. In order to selectively isolate or deplete specific cell populations from blood, patient peripheral blood samples are labeled with CliniMACS reagent, specific antibodies with a bound magnetic residue, in CliniMACS buffer, and exposed to magnetic separation using the CliniMACS Instrument, a clinical-grade closed device for separation currently being used in Surgery Branch. These critical clinical-grade reagents are required for our clinical protocols and are manufactured and distributed solely by Miltenyi Biotec Inc. Miltenyi Biotech Inc. is the only known source to the NCI Researcher that can meet the aforementioned requirement. The acquisition is being conducted under the simplified acquisition procedures authorized in FAR Part 13. This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
