Description
This work consists of Rental of Hopper Dredge with Attendant Plant and Operators for Maintenance Dredging of shoal material at Kings Bay Entrance Channel and Fernandina Harbor (Cut-1N). The contract will require bottom dump placement of dredged mate rial in the Ocean Disposal Area, Nearshore Disposal Area and North Settling Basin. The Contract will consist of Base and Option Bid Item as follows: The Base Bid consists of dredging the following areas to a required depth of 49 feet plus 2 feet allowabl e overdepth: (1) dredge material from Cut-1N Station 220+00 to Station 230+00 (Range 1000 to 1250) with placement in the designated nearshore placement area, D/A-N, located approximately 7 miles from the project site; and (2) dredge material from Cut-1N S tation 220+00 to Station 230+00 (Range 750 to 1000), Station 230+00 to Station 370+00, and Station 370+00 to Station 501+00 (Range 1100 to 1250) with placement in the designated Ocean Dredge Material Disposal Area (ODMDS), D/A-O, located approximately 12.5 miles from the project site. The Option Item consists of dredging the following area to a required depth of 49 feet plus 1 foot allowable overdepth: dredge material from Cut-1N Station 100+00 to Station 220+00 with placement in the designated North Sett ling Basin (Station 125+00 to Station 145+00, Range 1350 to Range 1550) located approximately 1 mile from the project site. The contract will also require turbidity monitoring, endangered species observer/monitoring, and possible sea turtle trawling and r elocation. THE CONTRACTOR IS ADVISED THAT WORK UNDER THIS CONTRACT WILL BE CONDUCTED PRIMARILY DURING THE WINTER SEASON (DECEMBER THROUGH MARCH) AND THAT WAVE CONDITIONS OF THREE FEET OR HIGHER MAY BE EXPECTED A MAJORITY OF THE TIME. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH PLANT AND EQUIPMENT THAT CAN SUCCESSFULLY ACCOMPLISH THE WORK UNDER THE EXPECTED WAVE ENVIRONMENT. This work is restricted to HOPPER DREDGES and COAST GUARD CERTIFICATION OF VESSELS IS REQUIRED. Total performance period, inclusive of option, is 38 calendar days which includes 14 days mobilization. Magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Solicitation will be issued on or about 19 Dec 2005 and open on or about 18 January 2006. THIS IS AN UNRESTRICTED ACQUISITION. T here will be a price preference for certified HUBZone small business concerns that comply with the requirements in the solicitation as stipulated in FAR 19.1307.
