- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City is seeking sources to integrate commercially available components of a modular underwater navigation/mapping system into the USMC Diver Propulsion Device (DPD). The ability of the system being configured for use by a single diver in handheld mode is desired. Open systems architecture must be used to allow easy technology upgrades and provide maximum modularity. The system must meet NAVSEA PMS 399 protocol for undersea operations and US Navy requirements for placement on the ANU list. The mission profile consists of covert navigation and mapping underwater using position calculations that integrate data from GPS, Doppler Sonar, and an Inertial Navigation unit. Mapping is desired from a depth of 6 ft to 40 ft (threshold) and 6 ft to 120 ft (objective). The navigation portion consists of an underwater transit for a 30 NM maximum distance over a submerged 5 hr duration (threshold), and 6 hour (objective). Transit depth anticipated is 20 - 25 ft of seawater. Maximum operating depth is 120 ft seawater. Speed ranges from 1-5 knots. It is anticipated that the system will consist of the following: Mission Planning Module - Plan mission graphically - Interoperable/compatible with COIN & C2PC CPU with Software - Hard drive size of 80GB - RAM of 512 MB - PCMCIA slots - Operating System of Windows 2000 or XP CPU Inputs - SAASM GPS - Doppler Sonar - INU - FWD Looking Sonar - Water Velocity - Pressure sensors: barometric & depth - User Inputs CPU Outputs - Displays: VGA & SVGA - Data IN/OUT: serial and USB Interested firms shall respond with brief documentation showing the company's ability to work with the DPD manufacturer to integrate the components of the system and produce prototypes. Describe details of your anticipated system architecture and its components. Describe the schedule you would follow to integrate the components and produce prototypes. Provide any information regarding your company, its industrial capacity and similar integration efforts to the one described above, in which you have successfully completed in the past. Only prime contractors should respond. A list of responding prime contractors will be furnished to potential subcontractors upon request. This is not a solicitation nor will a solicitation package be issued as a result of this announcement. In the event that a solicitation is developed, it will be assigned a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) number and the announcement will be published in FEDBIZOPS. Responses requested within 30 days.
