- VA Project Number: 437-06-101 VA Project Title: Refurbish Elevators 1-2-3 Scope: The contractor shall provide all materials, labors, equipment, etc necessary to complete the design for the VA project referenced above. Work shall include, but shall not be limited to, schematic design, design development, construction document preparation, construction period services and site visits. All work shall be in accordance with current VA design guides and manuals which the successful A/E firm shall download from the VA website. Work and submission requirements shall be listed in the contract documentation to be provided by VA to the successful A/E firm with the request for a fee proposal. The successful A/E firm shall provide complete and coordinated architectural and engineering (A/E) services for the renovation of existing VA Medical Center elevators and associated spaces (lobbies, equipment rooms, etc) located at 2101 Elm Street North, Fargo, ND 58102. The ?Refurbish Elevators 1-2-3? project shall consist of infrastructure replacement and improvements as well as aesthetic improvements to both the elevator cabs and the lobbies. The design shall include, but shall not be limited to; elevator cabs and all equipment shall be replaced entirely, new computer controls shall be provided, the elevator drive machines shall be replaced, the door operators shall be replaced, the hoist way door tracks and hanger?s door lock equipment shall be replaced, the cab interior shall be replaced and upgraded, there shall be a hoist way position tape reader installed, ADA hall and car fixtures shall be installed including a hands-free telephone and door protection (Lambda) shall be provided. Bid alternates shall be designed into the project to ensure that the project can be awarded within the estimated construction cost, while allowing the VA to maximize the use of funds available. An example of an alternate would be keeping and patching existing lobby finishes versus installing new finishes and lighting in all elevator lobbies. Another bid alternate shall be to replace the Elevator 10 (ten) motor starter with a solid state starter. A contract shall be for the project?s complete design including schematics, design development (DD) phase, the contract document (CD) and the construction period services phase of the project. Contract award is subject to a 90 day acceptance period and the availability of funds. Duration: Four months (120 calendar days) maximum from the Notice-To-Proceed from VA with the design until completion of design. A/E design firms and personnel directly involved with the project design and construction period services must be physically located within 100 miles of the Fargo VA Medical Center. The design shall be completed no later than June 1, 2006, which may mean the design time is less than four months (120 calendar days) if the Notice-To-Proceed is not received and signed by the A/E until after February 1, 2006. SF 330 Architect/Engineer Qualifications required.
