- Description
- The U.S. Army Picatinny Arsenal intends to procure an automated sequential wavelength-dispersive x-ray fluorescence (WDXRF) spectrometer to provide quantitative elemental analysis of elements from Boron to Uranium for quality evaluation, research and development, and failure analysis on a wide range of bulk materials using calibrated programs as well as standard-less semi- quantitative analysis for materials where no standards exist. For the purpose of failure analysis and research methods, the instrument must also be capable of micro area and software programmed mapping analysis down to 500 micrometers for chemical analysis of tiny samples, inclusions in solid samples, and surface mapping to stludy homogeneity or uniformity. Thus, the desired instrument shall be fitted with a high power micro-focus capability to enhance small spot size analysis and sensitivity for light elements. Finally, the desired instrument will have the x-ray tube mounted in such a way to keep the tube safe from dust or debris from the sample and maintenance free. Contractor capabilities should be sent to ckallis@pica.army.mil.
