- Description
- MARKET RESEARCH/REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS. The Marine Corps Systems Command is conducting a survey of potential sources for underwater location beacons. The request is for systems that meet Naval Sea Systems Command Program Management Sea 399 (NAVSEA PMS 399) protocol for undersea operations and meet the criteria for placement on the Certified for All Navy Use list (ANU). The objective of the system is to increase effectiveness compared to current underwater location beacons in use. The mission profile consists of combatant divers operating underwater in two-person dive teams. The dive teams may be riding a two-person diver propulsion device, and at other times free-swimming using fins. Upon arrival at their mission objective, the dive team will cache equipment on the ocean bottom for later retrieval. The underwater location beacon will be attached to the cached equipment to aid in its recovery. The beacon must have a threshold range of 500 meters, an objective range of 1000 meters. The device used to locate the beacon must be small enough to be held in one hand and be operable while wearing cold-water dive gloves. The beacon/locater system must operate on a passive/active principle. The beacon must have a threshold endurance of at least 30 days, objective of 60 days, while in the passive ?sleep? mode and a threshold of 24 hours in the active ?transmit? mode, objective of 48 hours. Please include the willingness of the company to participate in a demonstration of their product. MARCORSYSCOM will not pay or provide reimbursement for any costs incurred in the preparation or delivery of the requested information. Industry firms capable of providing the required systems, in whole, are invited to submit a response to this notice. MARCORSYSCOM anticipates using the GSA schedule for this opportunity although interested parties not on the GSA schedule are encouraged to participate. Firms should identify/submit a copy of their GSA schedule, if applicable. Firms should also include literature, brochures, price lists, estimated production capacity, and capabilities summaries directly addressing their ability to meet the aforementioned needs. At a minimum, the capabilities summary should include the following: system description, system maturity, life-span, weight, dimensions, required power, attachment methods, buoyancy, method of detection, effective range, field of view and other sensor specific performance parameters. Interested firms are requested to respond NLT 4 January 06, stating their business size, NAICS Code, and identifying a corporate point of contact. Interested sources should respond to: (U. S. Mail address) Commander, Marine Corps Systems Command, ATTN IWS/R&R-Erin Brakensiek, 2200 Lester Street, Quantico, VA 22134. THE SUBMISSION OF THIS INFORMATION IS FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO PROCURE ANY ITEMS/SERVICES, NOR FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR THE INFORMATION RECEIVED.
