Description

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) intend to negotiate, on a sole source basis, with Sterling Commerce (America),Inc. in procuring maintenance support for the period 01/20/06 ? 01/19/07 (with the option of one additional year for the period beginning 01/20/07) for 50 copies of Connect Direct mid-tier software licenses. The license support is inclusive of version and release upgrades, software defect correction, and 24 x 7 x 365 day phone support. The software is owned by CMS and was acquired in support of the Discount Drug Program, and the software will now be used in support of the Medicare Modernization Act. Connect: Direct software (formerly known as NDM) has been in use at the Agency since 1987. This procurement will allow Connect: Direct software compatibility for CMS and all drug card sponsors. The procurement will be conducted under other than full and open competition, under the authority of 10 U.S.C.2304(c)(1). If no affirmative written documentation is received within (15) calendar days of this synopsis, CMS will proceed with negotiations to issue a contract to Sterling Commerce(America), Inc.
