- Description
- The US Army Communications-Electronics Life-Cycle Management Command Acquisition Center, on behalf of Fusion Based Knowledge for the Future Force (FBKFF) plans to negotiate a sole source modification to contract W15P7T-05-C-P621 with the University o f Massachusetts for a task related to Information Fusion. This research effort is a result of a solicited proposal from the FBKFF Project being conducted within the Fusion and Technologies Branch, AMSRD-CER-IW-FF at I2WD Fort Monmouth, NJ to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA Computer Science Department to build upon the initial proof-of-concept investigation of applicability of advanced blackboard and multi-agent system (MAS) techniques for creating a collaborative information-fusion environment for Army analysts and decision makers within the Armys Br igade Combat Teams. Under the existing contract, the contractor conducts R&D to advance the scientific foundations in the problem domain, and to develop and enhance software that will increase the speed and accuracy of intelligence analysis in support of answering commanders PIRs under severe information overload and challenging time constraints for making tactical decisions. The contractor is required to: illuminate a number of the key sources of complexity underpinning the problem of answering PIRs; i ncorporate the development of new algorithms and computational representations in a highly flexible and responsive software architecture; demonstrate speed and accuracy improvements in answering PIRs with respect to the identified sources of complexity in the context of government-furnished scenarios and data sets; and to document the results, approach, rationale, interpretations and conclusions in a Final Scientific and Technical Report. The software developed will be delivered to the government in a wo rking prototype system. Technical Point of Contact is Dr. Gerald Powell (732)-532-2429. Contractual Point of Contact is Andrew Dellomo (732)-532-3569. Reference Note 22.
