- The Department of Energy (DOE)/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is seeking information from manufacturers interested in identification of items currently in production that can meet our contemplated requirements as follows for Identification Friend or Foe Equipment: ??? Small size of unit, no more than 1.5in x 1.5in x 1.5in. ??? Lightweight, no more than 3 ounces. ??? Attaches securely to tactical equipment during deployment in rugged terrain, or low crawling, or moving through thick underbrush, etc. ??? Non-snag surfaces. ??? Multi-directional field of view. ??? Programmable, sequence of reply flashes for unit or individual identification, e.g. one flash, two flashes or one long and one short flash. ??? Positive ???on??? confirmation. ??? Battery life exceeds 2 hours. ??? Visible through night vision equipment only. ??? Activated by IR from a source such as a PEQ-2A, DBAL-A2, ATILLA, or other illuminating laser aimer/illuminator. ??? Visible after activation to approximately 600 + yards at night. ??? Possibly encoded to preclude opposition forces from using equipment to query and discover friendly forces. This request for information does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that a procurement action will be issued, nor will the Government pay for the information solicited in this sources sought announcement. NNSA is a strong advocate for the small business community and interested small businesses/lead teams and joint ventures that qualify as small businesses are especially encouraged to submit a response to this notice.
