Description
SEEKING SOURCES FOR WOVEN UPHOLSTERY FABRIC. SEE THE FOLLOWING ITEM PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS FOR PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS. NSN 8305-01-452-9331 UPHOLSTERY FABRIC, WOVEN: Shall be in accordance with ASTM D 3597. Shall have the following characteristics: Weight - 451 g/sq m (13.5 oz/sq yd), minimum, exclusive of back coating Fabric - Plain weave, flat fabric, 100% nylon Color - Two-tone Gray Warp yarns to approximate Fed Std 595 #16251 Filling yarns to approximate Fed Std 595 #15042 Treatment - Stain, mildew, and fire resistance Width - 53.5 inches, minimum Roll length - 50 to 55 yards in one piece Unit of issue shall be RO (one roll of fabric). EXCEPTIONS TO THE SPECIFICATION: 1) In Table I, change requirements of: Breaking strength (force) to 1112 N, minimum, for warp and filling; Tongue tear strength to 89 N, minimum, for warp and filling; Resistance to yarn slippage to 178 N, minimum, for warp and filing; 2) In Table I, Surface abrasion shall pass heavy-duty. 3) Paragraph 6.14: Add the sentence "The fabric shall meet the requirements in California Flammability Regulation 117, Section E and UL 214." AVAILABILITY OF SPECIFICATIONS: Copies of Federal standards, Federal specifications, and commercial item descriptions (CID) are available from the Federal Supply Service Bureau Specification Section (3FP-E), Specification Unit, Suite 8100, 470 E. L?Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC 20407; phone 202.619.8925; Fax 202.619.8985. Copies of ASTM standards are available from ASTM, 100 Barr Harbor Drive, West Conschohocken, PA 19426-2959, Website: http://www.astm.org/. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE: The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this purchase description, conform to the producer?s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. MARKING: Shipments to GSA and other civilian agencies shall be marked in accordance with FED-STD-123. Shipments to the Department of Defense (DOD) shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: The item(s) shall be packaged and packed to afford adequate protection against physical damage during shipment from the supplier to the first receiving activity. The pack shall comply with the rules and regulations applicable to the mode of transportation. The package shall be the same as that normally provided by the supplier. In the event a pallet or skid is used for shipping, the following notice shall apply: Notice of special requirements for shipment to all countries that have endorsed the IPPC Guidelines for treatment of non-manufactured wood packaging: The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) has approved and published on March 15, 2002, ?Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade?. Countries endorsing the IPPC Guidelines are found at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ppq/swp/. Clause D-FSS-468 requires non-manufactured wood pallets and other non-manufactured wood packaging material used in shipments destined to IPPC compliant countries require the appropriate wood treatment. Additionally, shipments delivered to DOD distribution facilities or freight consolidation points for eventual delivery to or through EU/IPPC countries shall comply with applicable DLA Regulations and Procurement Letter PROCLTR 02-17.
