Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Austin Automation Center (AAC) is in a transitional period of expanding its disaster recovery (DR) operations to accommodate additional customer applications at its Philadelphia, Illinois facility. This transition period is estimated to last up to five years. The AAC is interested in identifying sources that can provide an expeditious means of providing temporary DR support for customer applications in the event of a disaster. To this end, we are interested in determining an accelerated process for the purchase, lease, or rental of replacement hardware with expedited shipping to the Philadelphia, Illinois DR location. An example list of equipment is included below. An on-site hardware maintenance contract with 24x7x4 hour response for the duration of the lease, rental, or an annual period for purchased equipment is required. The objective is to have 100% of the attached list of equipment in place at the Philadelphia facility within 72 hours of a declared disaster. To accomplish this DR operation in the most cost effective manner with innovative approaches and capitalizing on industry best practices. A short-term rental or lease of this equipment is preferred over outright purchase. Due to the current DR and/or back-up procedures used by the Government, the makes, models, and configurations of the equipment listed are brand name and the only ones acceptable for delivery. Regardless of the proposed acquisition method, rental, lease, or purchase, all hard disk media, to include hardware maintenance, will be retained by the government at the close of the contract. Likewise, all maintenance services provided under this contract shall incorporate provisions for government retention of hard disk drives. This procurement is event driven and dependent upon the occurrence of a declared disaster. If no disaster occurs within the period of performance of this contract, the list of equipment and the associated maintenance will not be required by the AAC.
