- SUBJECT: Market Investigation for Helmet System 1. The U.S. Army Natick Soldier Center (NSC) is conducting a world-wide market research investigation for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Helmet Systems. The NSC is interested in a commercially available Helmet System (shell and face shield) with the ab ility to accommodate military and/or commercial air purifying respirator gas masks. Helmet system must have the ability to accommodate military and/or commercial air purifying respirator gas masks with the face shield in a position covering the face and m ask. 2. Interested individuals must submit information on their system within thirty (30) days from the date of this request. Information submission must include: a. product literature, b. specifications (available sizes, weight, fragmentation protection performance of shell and face shield, description of materials and components), c. illustrations/photos d. cost e. product availability, f. list of current users of equipment g. location(s) of manufacture e. history of production (how long item has been manufactured and quantity of product sold) f. test data/test report references indicating successful respiratory protection while system is in use with an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Suit. 3) Intended use of helmet system is with blast protective bomb disposal suit with priority interest in a helmet that can integrate with commercially available bomb disposal ensembles (Explosive Ordnance Disposal Suits). Helmet must offer: fragmentation pr otection of at least 550 meters per second V50 for 17 grain Fragment Simulating Projectile over the entire helmet; blast induced head acceleration protection; impact protection; and thermal protection at a minimum. Helmet shall offer complete head coverag e. 4) Please submit information on products that are currently commercially available, not items that are under development.
