Description
The US Army Communications Electronics Research, Development & Engineering Center (CERDEC), Fort Monmouth, NJ is conducting an industry survey of interested foreign sources, under the Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) Program, to provide lightweight man-portable third generation (3G) Universal Mobile Telephone System (UMTS) commercial equipment for technical testing and evaluation. This 3G UMTS equipment must be 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) compliant. The CERDEC is interested in assessin g the capabilities of this technology and its potential deployment to Army tactical units. It is CERDECs intention to eventually purchase two man-portable Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) UMTS cellular systems in ruggedized containers. The se systems must be capable of operating in both an autonomous and as a sub-network within current legacy networks. The contractor must provide user training, operator manuals/applications and frequency spectrum support. At this time CERDEC requests that i nterested sources provide information regarding their man-portable UMTS network equipment. This information should include the network elements that comprise the man-portable UMTS system to include brochures, pictures and specifications. This request for information (RFI)/Sources Sought (SS) Notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the US Army CERDEC. The purpose of this RFI/SS is to identify potent ial foreign sources that may be interested in and capable of performing the work described herein. US Army CERDEC does not intend to award a contract on the basis of responses nor otherwise pay for the preparation of any information submitted or for CERDEC s use of such information. Acknowledgement of receipt of responses will not be made, nor will respondents be notified of CERDEC evaluation of the information received.
