- Description
- The purpose of this Sources Sought is to obtain information from potential sources that are capable of meeting a US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) need for an Electronic Shunt as described herein. This request is for a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) item or an item that would require limited/minimal improvements. USSOCOM is looking for companies that have developed and produced a COTS Electronic Shunt that would meet the following required minimum criteria: Total system weight of less than 1 lbs; size 3?x 2? x 1?; ability to connect to #20 thru #10 gauge wires; electronically sense current flow of 150 milliamps in a single wire on the circuit to which attached and react to sensed current flow by shunting circuit within 30 microseconds; operate continuously on self contained commercial batteries for 4 hours; operate in 00F to +1100F. Other desirable requirements include: Total system weight of less than .5 lbs; size 2?x 2? x 1?; ability to connect to various types and sizes of circuit wires; operate continuously on self contained commercial batteries for 6 hours. USSOCOM seeks the above described electronic shunt from worldwide sources, as well as any potential candidates in current Government programs (US or foreign). USSOCOM intends to review product literature, test data, and methodology used to support claims of ability to meet described criteria. USSOCOM may decide to acquire for testing purposes one or more vendor products that appear to meet or exceed the stated criteria. Further, based on the results of testing, the government may procure and field systems to meet military operational needs. Responses to this market survey are due on or before Feb 06, and must include a product description with performance parameters and a statement regarding current availability, summary of prior testing, test reports, summary of logistic and maintenance requirements and an estimated cost for the price of test articles and production units. The NAICS for this effort is 334515, SIC 3825, FSC 5999 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. This announcement is a request for information only and is not a request for proposal or announcement of a solicitation. The information provided in response to this announcement may result in the Government developing a Request for Proposal. Failure to participate in this sources sought will not preclude offerors from participating in any follow-on Request for Proposal.
