Description
BLM Request for Proposals, NAR060050, Veterinary Services at the Salt Lake Wild Horse and Burro Facility on an as needed basis for a 12 Month Period, With Four 12 Month Option Periods. Solicitation number NAR060050 applies and will be issued as a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the following requirement: The Bureau of Land Management's Salt Lake City, Utah Wild Horse and Burro Holding Facility has a requirement for Veterinary Services as follows: The Salt Lake Regional WH&B Facility is located 17 miles south of Magna, Utah (From 2100 South street, go south on 8400 West for 17 miles and then turn right up the canyon. The facility is located on the left). The contractor shall provide routine veterinary services on an as needed basis at the Salt Lake Holding Facility in Salt Lake City, Utah and will be reimbursed based on the hourly rate set forth in the contract. The workload will vary seasonally. At times services will be required five days a week. Workload can be expected to vary depending on shipping activity and the health of the population at the Salt Lake Regional WH&B Facility. An average number of equines held within the Salt Lake Regional WH&B Facility has been approximately 500 animals. The lowest number of equines has been approximately 75 animals. The veterinarian, or alternate veterinarian, must be available at the site within three (3) hours of notification of an emergency and within six (6) hours of notification of a non-emergency. The name, address and telephone number of the alternate veterinarian must be provided. The duties require a veterinarian licensed in the State of Utah, USDA accredited for issuing interstate health certificates, and one year of experience with equines. Approximately 80% of the estimated workload consists of preparing equines for adoption. The remaining 20% of the workload for veterinarian services includes, but is not limited to the following treatments: Castration, Hip wounds, Hernia Repair, Colic, Eye infections/Injuries, Hoof Abscesses, cuts, wounds, Fluid/Supplies for fluid delivery, X rays, Infectious/Respiratory Diseases, Euthanasia, Deworming, Strangles, Coggins tests, Health Certificate Preparation, Misc. Lameness and Misc. Surgeries. This is a 100% set-aside for small business. The NAICS classification is 541940. Size standard is $6.5 million. Proposals are due March 1, 2006 by 2:00 PM Mountain Time.
