Description

Poverty Creek Fuel Break Thinning - Block C Thinning of all tree and shrub species up to 15.9" DBH within designated areas and associated slash treatment. Leave all trees over 16 DBH, all Gambel Oaks, riparian hardwoods and marked leave trees. Riparian areas: Remove all conifer (ponderosa pine, pinyon, juniper,) trees leaving only hardwood riparian species (cottonwood, alder, etc.). Thin from below trees up to 15.9" DBH to achieve an average residual basal area of 40 square feet. Where no tree larger than 15.9" DBH occurs, spacing living crowns of individual trees or groups of trees 20 X 20 feet. Lop slash to within 24" of ground. Slopes > 30% : thin from below trees up to 15.9" DBH to achieve an average residual basal area of 60 square feet. Where no tree larger than 15.9" DBH occurs, space living crowns of individual trees or groups of trees to 16 X 16 feet. Adjacent to Private Land (cut and pile): Thin from below trees up to 15.9" DBH to achieve an average residual basal aea of 50 square feet. Where no tree larger than 15.9" DBH occurs, space living crowns of individual trees or groups of trees 18 X 18 feet. Cut all snags that create a fire/safety hazard on property lines. Hand pile residual slash. All other Areas: Thin from below trees up to 15.9" DBH to achieve an average residual basal area of 40 square feet. Where no tree larger than 15.9" DBH occurs, space living crown of individual and groups of trees to 20 X 20 feet.
