Description

***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Optical Elements Corporation in Dulles, VA for the purchase of related accessories for an Olympus microscope, Model # AX-70 and BX-51. The required equipment must be compatible with the Olympus AX-70 and BX-51.*** ***Sole Source determination is based on the following: The accessories manufactured by Olympus are the only items that are 100 percent compatible and interchangeable with NIST?s existing Olympus AX-70 and BX-51. Olympus is the sole manufacturer of this equipment. Optical Elements Corp. is the sole distributor of this equipment in the Gaithersburg, MD region.*** ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 90 days after receipt of order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 339111, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by February 10, 2006.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
