Description

Contractor shall completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials and perform work at the Birmingham VA Medical Center, 700 S. 19th Street, Birmingham, AL 35233, for construction of Project #521-325, _Specialty Care Expansion_, as required by drawings and specifications. BID ITEM I, ?SPECIALTY CARE EXPANSION?: Work includes general construction, alterations, walks, grading, drainage, architectural, mechanical and electrical work, utility systems, and necessary removal of existing structures and construction and certain other items. Work shall include all construction activities construction a four story (ground floor through third floor) addition as required by accompanied drawings. ALTERNATE BID NO.1: ?SPECIALTY CARE EXPANSION?: Work includes general construction, alterations, walks, grading, drainage, architectural, mechanical and electrical work, utility systems, and necessary removal of existing structures and construction and certain other items. Work shall include all construction activities construction a four story (ground floor through third floor) addition as required by accompanied drawings, (NOTE:) except the third floor shall be built out in accordance with Alternate Bid 1 Drawings: A4-A1; A10-A1;H5-A1; HP4-A1; P4-A1; E8-A1; E9-A1 and W4-A1. It is a requirement of this contract that the awarded contractor will be required to provide an OSHA certified competent person who shall have 30 hours of the OSHA Certified Construction Safety Course, all other persons working on this project shall have completed the 10 hour OSHA Certified Construction Safety Course. The estimated dollar value of construction is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Estimated solicitation issue date is on or about February 16, 2006, with an estimated bid opening date of March 23, 2006. The National American Industry Classification system (NAICS) Code is 236220 and size standard of $28.5 million applies for this procurement. This procurement is subject to the availability of funds, and is Unrestricted. There will be a pre-bid conference and walk through of the project, and it is highly recommended that all who intend to submit a bid attend pre-bid conference and walk through. The time and location will be addressed in the cover page of the solicitation. Also, solicitation consisting of specifications, drawings, and contract forms are available in electronic form at the following BOS URL: http://www.bos.oamm.va.gov/solicitation?number=247-0169-06. .
